If you checked off 3 or more jobs, it's time for you to start building your super star team.

But, but, but...

Before you protest about budget, let me tell you right now that it’s completely possible (and worth it) to hire support on any budget.  Or if you're worried about finding the right people, know that it's easy as long as you are clear on what kind of team you want. Trust that you will attract the best team for you!

In the super early days of my business, I tried to do everything myself. Like many DIYers, I figured, well, why not? I had the time to do it, and I figured YouTube could teach me anything! Needless to say, I spent a huge amount of time creating subpar graphics, when what I really needed was some real branding.

When I finally gave in and hired someone, it turned out to be the best thing I ever did for my business (and my sanity).

You can't be an expert in everything, and you shouldn't try to.

Not only did it make me look way more professional (thus boosting my confidence and upping my game), but it also turned out to be much more cost-effective because I could focus on other things that could move my business forward.

No matter where you are on your business journey, know that hiring someone will free up a lot of your time and energy so you can focus on steps that will supercharge your business instead.

Time Sucker #1: Small, Low-Impact Tasks

Hire a: General Assistant

A multi-talented assistant is almost always the first person that entrepreneurs look for when they start feeling overwhelmed.

That’s because they can help with a number of things, like social media posting, blogging, travel planning, e-mailing, SEO, designing, etc. With the right structure in place, this person can free up a lot of your time and energy!

The best place to start looking is in your own network. Start putting the word out that you’re hiring on Facebook and in your networks. You can also post job ads at your local colleges, or ask business friends for recommendations on virtual assistants.

Time-Sucker #2: Creating Your Own Graphics & Website

Hire a: Branding Expert & Web Developer

Reality check— if you don’t have a nice website, your business won’t be taken seriously. And if your business isn’t taken seriously, you won't be in business for long.

If web design is not your forte, hire a brand expert and web developer to help you out ASAP.

This may or may not be the same person— some designers code while some focus solely on designing. I ended up hiring two people, but I’ve also had clients find branding experts who also code. Honestly, it depends on your needs, budget and who you find.

Whatever route you decide on, your end goal is to have a professional, cohesive brand and website that represents you to the world in the best way possible. If you feel good about it, it’s perfect for you!

Time-Sucker #3: Lack of a Clear, Actionable Game Plan & Feeling "Stuck"

Hire a: Business Coach

Business coaches are quickly becoming must-haves for women entrepreneurs in their first few years of business, kind of like how green smoothies are quickly become the most awesome thing for health-conscious women on the go.

It’s no surprise— like kale, a good coach keeps you healthy, and by extension, keeps your business healthy. A coach also keeps you on track with your goals and helps you overcome tough roadblocks along the way.

I hired my first coach when I seriously had no money. The only currency I had was a big dream and passion for my business. I’m glad I did it—my coach is the reason I have a business today!

If you’re considering hiring a coach, think about what you want from a coach. Some coaches focus heavily on their own strategy, while some take a more hands-off approach and gently coax a strategy out of you. I’m somewhere in the middle, and I definitely adjust according to my clients’ needs.

It’s also important to know how you want your coach to make you feel. For example, I believe that my clients can motivate themselves. I’m there to help them find (or remember) their motivation and inspiration, rather than force them to act. So if you need a coach that pressures you, I probably wouldn’t be the best coach for you, which is totally fine!

I occasionally offer free sessions, so if you think we might be a fit, send me an email at monalisa@monalisaondevilla, and I’ll add you to my interest list. If I’m not your cup of tea, keep looking— a business coach is invaluable, and will provide tremendous insight and forward momentum in your business and life!

Wrap Up

If you're overworking yourself in your business, it's time to give yourself the permission to get the support you need. Allow yourself the freedom to spend your time focusing on business activities that you kick ass on, rather than those that suck all your energy. Give yourself the space, time and permission to get help, and watch your business grow!
